Return from Throckmount, Rumors of Assassinations, and Goblin Hunting

As Greyfell's Gryffons returned to the city of Landskhar from Throckmount Keep, the being who called himself 'Vhel' takes his leave, and wanders off into the city.

Upon entering the city, the party notices that there is a great tumult. The city is well into celebrating the first day of the Winter Faire, the holiday celebrating the Solstice and the return of warmer weather. People are excited, talking a great deal, some are laughing, but as the party passes several taverns, there is an unusual amount of brawling and the noise level is much higher than normal.

The party returned to the Drunk Monk, and settled up with Lord Astaras Throckmount. He was so pleased with the amount of ghostamber that was procured, that he gave the party a bonus, the award totalling 3000 gold crowns. He expressed an interest in perhaps hiring the party in the future, then took his leave.

Tolden was bumped into from behind by a man that was dressed in the finely crafted armor of an aristocratic knight, armed with a very large sword at his side. As he turned around, Tolden was astonished to see that this man bore a remarkable resemblence to himself, only with red hair and a large bushy red beard. The man excused himself, and Tolden quickly realized that this man must be Javral Kennington, whose mother, Irial Matherton, was Tolden's father's cousin.

Javral has been sent by Duke Aman Kennington, his uncle, to hire a party of mercenaries and go hunting for goblin raiders. He has heard rumors of roving bands in the Westlands, from Straeon down to Oren. Javral invited the party to a meeting with Duke Aman, over dinner.

At this time, Dalith was summoned by an Ecclesiastical Court, where he was Censured for not immediately reporting the demon that was freed. Present were Father Galuin, Prelate Maltrevius, and Father Asovius, Patrius Ordo Militant. Prelate Maltrevius, a high ranking Senior Cleric, was less than friendly about the oversight, and Father Asovius was visibly angry over the precedings. Dalith was dismissed, and Father Asovius asked him to wait in the hallway, where a heated argument was overheard between the Senior Clerics. After a few minutes, Father Asovius came out and talked to Dalith, telling him that he has been very impressed with his rapid advancement, and whether he would be interested in a position in the Ordo Militant. Dalith resonded in the affirmative, and Father Asovius said they would talk more later.

A vote was taken, and in matters military, Tolden is to be the military commander. With some reluctance, which was obvious, Arcturus finally admitted that this might be for the best.

Badai the Barbarian went looking for a puppy to raise to a hound, at Orros' Hounds, and instead found a girl named Iskra Jador. She was tested by Badai for her tracking ability, and with the help of her hounds, was found to be fairly good at tracking him. This ability was noted to be necessary if the party was to hunt goblins.

That night, the party had dinner with Duke Jerdys Carrister and Duke Aman Kennington. Javral Kennington there as well. Duke Carrister was happy to see Tolden making his fortune. The Dukes offered the party 1500 gp for killing a tribe of goblins, 500 gp, 300 dead for capturing the human leading them. The party gets to keep the heads for the King's Reward. Javral intends to come with the party, and is bringing two of his men. The Dukes also contracted with Baelors Sentinels, who are hunting from the South. The Dukes gave the party a Ducal Writ, giving the party legal right to hunt these goblins, under their Authority.

Father Asovius, Patrius Ordo Militant came to collect the Dark Sword. He offered 900 gp. The party felt that this was an unworthy offer. So, to sweeten the pot, he has granted the party 2 favors, to be collected at any time.

The party heard rumors about an Ishara cult spreading from Dunford. Ishara is a little known evil goddess, often called the Hidden Shadow. She is the lesser sister of Laev, the Moon Goddess.

Aloph the Enchanter contacted the party, looking for adventurers for a mission. He wants someone to go to the Khaldreth Ruins in Sarinton Province (ruled by House Astonfell) and retrieve one of the Tears Of Wonder (Relics similar to the Orbs, but of a lesser order) (There is a reference from Hathen the Wise that there might be one in Khaldreth). Aloph has given the party the tip that Netherin, a Scholar in Huntington, is the man to talk to about lost shard of the sword Daegoth.

In 3 days the party will ride out for Straeon province, hunting for goblins for the Dukes Kennington and Carrister.
